The recently-emerging story of the Secret Listeners provides a wealth of opportunities for supporting and enriching the curriculum, enabling students to build skills and knowledge, and helping to increase engagement with their community and local heritage.

Free In-school KS2 workshops

Secret Listeners workshop

Students will discover a worn leather bag with intriguing contents… a student-led investigation will ensue, and they will quickly discern the owner: a German Jewish refugee who worked as a Secret Listener at Trent Park House during WWII. Students will explore a day in the life of a secret listener, learn how intelligence was recorded and shared, and
reflect on the refugee experience and migrant contribution to Britain.

 Captain Catherine Townshend workshop

Brand new workshop exploring women in intelligence through the extraordinary story of Captain Catherine Townshend.

Co-created with partner schools and Freshwater Theatre Company, these facilitator-led workshops are free for Enfield and Barnet schools and made possible with funding from National Heritage Lottery Fund.

Option to add on a self-guided museum visit to follow the workshop. See information below.

Self-guided museum visits

Explore the house at your own pace and uncover the stories of the Secret Listeners who gathered vital intelligence. Engaging displays encourage students to reflect on espionage and the power of
information in wartime.

Cost: £105 per class                        

A limited number of bursaries are available to state schools in Enfield and Barnet. These bursaries are only available to schools with over 25% pupil premium.

Workshop

This facilitated session introduces students to the fascinating world of wartime intelligence at Trent Park. Through discussions and interactive elements, students will explore how information was gathered, interpreted, and used - developing curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper connection to the past.
